Como talvez já saibam nos Golden Globes o Cinema é dividido em Drama e Comédia/ Musical, embora algumas categorias (Melhor Realizador, Argumento, Banda Sonora, Música e os filmes estrangeiros e de Animação) juntem tudo no mesmo saco. Este ano 'Birdman' parte na frente em termos de nomeações (7), mais duas do que 'Boyhood' e 'The Imitation Game'. No ramo televisivo as mini-séries 'Fargo' (5 nomeações) e 'True Detective' (4) roubam de certa forma o protagonismo às séries propriamente ditas, com 'House of Cards', 'Orange is the New Black', 'The Affair' e 'The Good Wife' a terem todas elas 3 indicações.

Já na comédia é 'Orange is the New Black' o alvo a abater e, como tal, a noite pode ser memorável para a Netflix caso sejam premiadas 2 séries suas - 'House of Cards' e 'Orange is the New Black'. Um dos duelos quentes da cerimónia é o tira-teimas entre 'True Detective' e 'Fargo'.
